Inland Valley Recovery Services Sober Living Review

Based out of Upland, California, Inland Valley Recovery Services is a CARF-accredited non-profit with a full continuum of treatment programs for clients struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. Founded in 1962, the facility provides treatment plans for clients of all ages and in a range of intensities. In addition to its detox, outpatient and residential treatment plans, the organization also offers flexible sober living for men, women and women with children.

Accommodations and Amenities

The organization has a total of six facilities available for sober living, namely three apartments and three houses with room for six residents each. While the apartments are put to flexible use, the three houses are put to distinct uses for men, women and women with children, respectively. Though the accommodations differ somewhat by location, each includes bedrooms that are shared two to a room in twin beds. Women with children are housed in their own rooms.

Each facility comes with the basic amenities of home including dressers and closet space in the bedrooms, shared common areas with cable TV and on-site laundry. All locations have central heating and air as well as a new set of fresh linens which residents can keep upon completion of the program. While the homes come with front and backyards, the apartments have additional amenities including an on-site gym, a pool and two jacuzzis. Throughout their stay, clients are required to cook and prepare their own meals.

Rules and Regulations

Generally speaking, clients follow fairly regimented schedules which include three AA/NA meetings a week, three outpatient groups a week, basic chores, deep house cleaning on Sunday and regular sessions with a case manager to look for work. All participants should be ready and willing to submit to random drug testing and to obey basic house behavioral contracts. While residents cook and prepare their own meals, they do receive grocery cards every week which range from $30 to $75. Transportation to local grocery stores is provided as well.

Extras

As mentioned, the organization also provides more intensive care plans including residential treatment and outpatient care for those in need of more therapy. Additional counseling covering anger management, domestic violence and family therapy is also available as necessary. Those coming out of a primary care plan can also continue attending the organization’s weekly aftercare groups.

In Summary

Overall, Inland Valley Recovery Services is a well-rounded organization with many resources available for clients of all ages. Sober living is open to men, women and women with children, each with flexible lengths of stay. In each program, clients attend outpatient therapy while seeking employment and creating connections with other program residents. For those in the area seeking a transitional program, Inland Valley Recovery Services’ sober living programs provide a safe and stable environment for clients in early recovery.
