Inland Valley Recovery Services Review
Located in suburban Upland, California, Inland Valley Recovery Services offers the full spectrum of substance abuse treatment—detox, residential, transitional care and outpatient care. The facility, which was founded in 1962, serves more than 5,000 individuals a year through its well-trained professional staff.
Accommodations and Food
In the 75-bed residential program, clients share modest bedrooms with twin beds and plenty of natural light. There are also therapy rooms, offices, a dining hall, rec room and a common area with a TV. Smoking is permitted outside.
Three meals a day are prepared and served buffet-style with concern for health and flavor. Dietary requests can usually be accommodated.
Treatment and Staff
The adult residential program treats men and women. Children (up to two) of individuals in treatment can also be accommodated. Medically-monitored detox is available, with the process taking between seven and 10 days and costing $250 a day. Suboxone may be used for opiate withdrawal.
The program is based on the Therapeutic Community (TC) model of treatment, which is designed to help clients transition back into everyday life. The typical length of stay is 30 to 90 days and treatment involves a mixture of individual and group therapy. Group topics cover relapse prevention, coping skills, introduction to the 12 steps, employment, healthy communication and trauma. Evidence-based treatment modalities such as CBT and DBT are used in both group and individual settings. Clients can attend several on-site AA/NA meetings each week.
The staff is a professional, well-credentialed team with certification in substance abuse and drug and alcohol counseling. Credentials include CAS, CADC-II and LVN.
Extras
As the client nears the end of the program, a discharge plan is mapped out. Weekly aftercare groups are available.
A 52-week domestic violence treatment program is available. An employee assistance program helps clients get back to work. Additionally, enrichment services for youth and young adults between the ages of 11 and 25 are offered, addressing drug and alcohol issues, shoplifting, anger management and truancy.
Education groups for family members take place on a weekly basis.
In Summary
Rooted firmly in the 12 steps, Inland Valley Recovery Services provides a comprehensive list of services and a continuum of care including detox, residential, transitional and outpatient. This structured program follows a path that has proven to be effective for many alumni. Additional amenities, such as permitting adults to bring up to two children into the residential facility, make it a good fit for parents who want recovery but have to be mindful of other responsibilities.
