Indiana Center for Recovery Review

Located minutes away from the Indiana University campus in Bloomington, Indiana, the Indiana Center for Recovery (ICFR) is a treatment facility that specializes substance use disorders and dual diagnosis care. A family-owned operation just 10 miles away from the largest lake in the state, ICFR believes in treating the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of addiction. To this end, the facility provides a customized treatment program that combines evidence-based therapies, holistic methods as well as 12-step. ICFR offers a curriculum that includes detox, residential and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).

Accommodations and Food

Nestled among the sycamores less than a mile away from downtown Bloomington, clients of ICFR stay in spacious, upscale housing. The 2,600 square foot home offers a peaceful atmosphere ideal for clients to focus on their recovery journey. The accommodations are divided by gender and there are a total of 58 beds. ICFR provides a communal atmosphere and encourages clients to have a roommate, though if necessary private rooms can be made available. Bedrooms are equipped with twin-sized beds, nice furnishings and plenty of natural light.

Clients enjoy meals prepared by the on-site executive chef. Every meal is planned with the client’s specific needs in mind. In addition, a mindful nutrition program is offered to residents.

Treatment and Staff

The ICFR program encourages clients to discover who they are by implementing a life-coach strategy divided into physical, mental, emotional, social and spiritual domains. Upon intake, clients undergo an assessment to determine the most effective treatment for their specific needs. If necessary, clients go into the detox program. ICFR offers an off site medication-assisted detox in Florida that typically lasts between seven and 10 days, during which time clients receive around-the-clock supervision by the nursing team. After finishing the detox process, most clients transition into the residential program.

The length of residential treatment at ICFR varies depending on the specific needs of the client, though most stay between 30 and 60 days. Residents participate in both group and individual therapy as well as addiction education. Therapy utilizes a wide range of evidence-based methods including CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy and EMDR to treat past trauma as a component of addiction. In addition, a vast range of holistic models are incorporated into the program including yoga, meditation, acupuncture, trauma therapy, equine therapy and expressive therapy like psychodrama. Clients also enjoy personal training, therapeutic massage and a sleep hygiene program. Biofeedback is also available, and ICFR also offers the 12-step method as well as non-spiritual alternatives.

The multidisciplinary team at ICFR is comprised of counselors, social workers, clinical coaches, addiction specialists, a nursing team, physicians, psychologists and specialists. For clients with co-occurring disorders, a psychiatrist is onsite to provide medication management.

Extras

ICFR believes in the importance of aftercare to the success of sustainable long-term recovery. To this end, the facility offers ongoing monitoring through case managers as well as an alumni association. Following completion of the program, clients work hand in hand to find the most effective aftercare to prevent relapse.

In addition, ICFR offers a scholarship program for clients without insurance.

In Summary

Indiana Center For Recovery is a treatment facility that specializes in the care of clients struggling with substance use disorders as well as those with co-occurring disorders. Residents enjoy upscale accommodations in a tranquil environment, and the facility provides a well-rounded treatment program that integrates evidence-based therapies, holistic methods as well as the 12-step approach and wellness activities.
