IkronIkron Corporation Review

Ikron Corporation provides outpatient substance abuse treatment for those who are 16 and older and additional services for individuals with co-occurring disorders. Ikron is an acronym for Integration of Knowledge and Resources for Occupational Needs and the organization considers itself the first rehabilitation center in southwest Ohio to offer a comprehensive rehabilitation program focused on helping clients obtain competitive employment and build careers while maintaining sobriety. With the main office in Cincinnati and additional facilities in Seattle, Kentucky and Indiana, Ikron is an expansive network of recovery services for men and women struggling with addiction.

Treatment and Staff

Located in the heart of Cincinnati, Ikron flagship facility is the oldest mental health center in southwest Ohio. The three story, stately brick building could easily be mistaken for a lecture hall on a historical college campus. Ikron’s philosophy emphasizes employment as a key factor in sustaining abstinence. The mission of Ikron is to assist adults in building self-confidence, attaining greater self-sufficiency, leading more meaningful and fulfilling lives and to obtain and maintain satisfying employment.

Ikron offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) five days per week—Mondays through Fridays from 9 am to 2 pm. Motivational Interviewing (MI) is the primary form of therapy to facilitate change along with CBT and the Harm Reduction Model. Group topics include self-esteem, communication skills, relapse prevention and addiction analysis. Ikron also offers gender-specific groups, a co-occurring disorder tract for those with dual-diagnosis and the SAFE group—which addresses managing stress in the work place and teaches clients socio-occupational functioning skills.

Clients meet one hour per week for individual therapy. In addition, case managers and employment counselors assist in enrolling clients at the local Department of Vocational Rehabilitation office and assist in job search strategies. While involvement in 12-step programs is not required, Ikron encourages outside support sources.

Ikron also offers a less intensive outpatient program where clients meet three times per week. Group topics are similar to IOP with less frequency and individual therapy is based on need. While Ikron does not have an adolescent program, individuals less than 16 years of age may qualify for individual counseling based on the assessment. The treatment team consists of psychologists, LSCWs, CDACs and MFTs.

Extras

A relapse prevention group is offered for those who need further support after completion of the IOP or traditional outpatient track. There is also a relapse prevention group for those with co-occurring disorders.

In Summary

Ikron is a comprehensive outpatient program which utilizes a unique approach to treating substance abuse. While the hours are limited to weekdays, the services are extensive and the focus on employment during the initial stages of recovery encourages men and women to build a firm foundation on self-reliance, independence and sobriety.
