Ignatias House Review

Named after the “Angel of Hope” Sister Ignatia, Ignatias House is a sober living  for men and women in Billings, Montana. The homes offer structured and safe accommodations within a supportive community. Residents attend regular 12-step meetings and begin the process of reacclimating back into their communities as they establish their footing in recovery from drug and/or alcohol addiction.

Accommodations and Amenities

There are four homes that serve as the sober living facilities for Ignatias house, and men and women live separately. The facilities are spacious, two story residences (for the most part) and can accommodate between eight and 14 clients in each. The bedrooms are semi private and clients share the bathrooms. The common areas in the homes include a living room with TV, kitchen, dining room, and backyard spaces.

Rules and Regulations

Ignatias House requires that clients sign an agreement when they move in that states they will abide by the house rules. This includes keeping the house clean, performing regular chores, attending 12-step meetings regularly and, of course, staying sober. If there is a relapse the client is removed from the establishment immediately. There are circumstances where they can return but they are monitored more closely and can expect to have less privileges for a period of time.

Within a short amount of time after moving in clients have to get a full time job, enroll in school full time or have a regular volunteering obligation. These responsibilities can’t interfere with house meetings or any mandatory events in the home or as a group. Getting an AA/NA sponsor within a couple of weeks of entering the house is also required, as is getting house slips signed at meetings to confirm attendance.

There are regular drug screenings that clients have to submit to, and room searches are performed randomly by the house manager. There are on-site AA meetings held once a week, and guest speakers come to the main house on occasion.

Extras

There are several sober outings that clients go on as a group. They enjoy house movie nights, bowling, pool, fishing and BBQs.

Ignatius House hosts family visits and dinners on Sundays. Residents and their loved ones can sit down and enjoy a meal together, which the clients prepare.

In Summary

Ignatias House gives those who have struggled with sobriety a new chance at living the life they always dreamed of. The staff is caring and the homes are safe and secure. Ignatius House operates with the belief that everyone deserves a second chance through hard work and accountability.
