Ideas Directed at Eliminating Abuse Review
Ideas Directed at Eliminating Abuse is a network of outpatient treatment facilities in the Denver, Colorado area. With an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), Enhanced Outpatient Program (EOP) and gender-specific tracks, Ideas offers effective evidence-based treatment. With four locations in the South Platte River Valley, Ideas has been providing substance abuse services for adults residing in Denver, Aurora, Brighton, Thornton and surrounding areas since 1991.
Treatment and Staff
The EOP at Ideas requires clients to commit to 12 weeks of treatment and attend a weekly two hour class as well as a weekly individual therapy session. Class topics include addiction studies, family dynamics, relapse prevention, identifying triggers, communication skills and developing coping strategies.
The IOP track is a 12 week program with group therapy and one weekly individual session. Groups are gender specific and topics include early recovery, an introduction to the 12-steps, self-esteem and a goals group. There is also a co-occurring disorders group for individuals dealing with depression and anxiety.
All treatment in both the IOP and EOP tracks use a combination of CBT, MRT and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for those dealing with trauma. Clients are encouraged to focus their recovery on developing a sense of responsibility for their actions and empathy for the victims of their past behaviors. Parenting classes are also available as needed.
The Idea staff includes CDACs, psychologists and LCSWs.
Extras
DUI classes are offered on Saturdays for court-ordered first time offenders.
In addition to Idea’s substance abuse treatment, clients may benefit from additional treatment including a domestic violence program and LGBT specific program.
The “Monitored Sobriety” program support at Idea includes regular urinalysis, breathalyzers, oral swabs, Antabuse and hair tests to ensure the continued sobriety of clients.
