Ideal Option was founded by two emergency room physicians as a response to growing need for comprehensive substance abuse treatment during this country’s opioid epidemic. They wanted to provide a facility where clients could obtain affordable and effective treatment provided by experienced healthcare professionals. Ideal Option offers individualized treatment plans and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) using Suboxone and Naltrexone. Clients participating in this program also partake in a series of mental health services with programming that employs the whole-patient approach. Since Ideal Option’s inception in 2012, this program model has expanded to offer treatment in facilities all over the country, specifically in Alaska, Idaho, Iowa, Maryland, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon and Washington.
Treatment and Staff
Ideal Option is a medical facility with on-site behavioral health services. Clients are provided with a weekly prescription that they are responsible for getting filled and administering themselves. At the beginning of treatment, clients come into their local facility and talk to a nurse who them assesses their need for medication. There are several tests the facility runs that include lab work. From there, clients receive an individualized treatment plan that consists of not only receiving the medication, but also meeting with an on-site counselor. There isn’t a 12-step foundation to the program, however the staff highly recommends that all clients seek out a support community in NA or SMART Recovery if desired.
During the weekly visits to the counselors at Ideal Option locations, clients can expect therapy rooted in evidence-based approaches, like CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI), along with a psychoeducation and case management services. Ideal Option also works with drug courts throughout the country and is able to assist clients with legal needs.
These treatment options are not just for opioids, but also for those who need medication to help with other substances including alcohol, methamphetamines and tobacco.
The staff includes a number of medical professionals who are highly experienced in addiction and dual diagnosis clients. Every office has a certified psychiatric nurse practitioner on site, along with LMHC, CDP, CDPT, LICSW, and board certified psychiatrists.
In Summary
The programming offered at Ideal Option is medically based and expects the clients to take the bull by the horns and take responsibility for their own lives and health. Ideal Option does have some rules that the clients have to follow, but the intention is that every individual gains perspective and empowerment by learning about their disease and finding ways to help themselves.
