Ibiza Calm Review
Ibiza Calm is the only licensed addiction treatment center on the Mediterranean island of Ibiza, 150 miles from the Spanish city of Valencia. The island is known for its beauty, beaches and nightlife, in particular its electronic music club scene.
Ibiza Calm was founded in 2015 and offers highly customized, “bespoke” treatment plans and treats a maximum of 10 residents at a time. The facility provides detox and specializes in the treatment of addiction to prescription pain medication. It facilitates treatment in both English and Spanish. Accommodations and Food
Clients reside in an elegant farmhouse on an eight-acre estate. The grounds feature orange and lemon groves with outdoor spaces for relaxing and congregating. The home features single bedrooms decorated with antique furniture and plush, colorful textiles.
The residence has an outdoor swimming pool and common areas for recreation, contemplation and recovery homework. Ibiza Calm employs a full-time gourmet chef to create nourishing meals according to residents’ preferences and nutritional needs. As many of Ibiza Calm’s clients are executives and creative professionals unable to leave their professional responsibilities while in treatment, the staff provides supervised internet and Skype time each day.
Treatment and Staff
Detox may take anywhere from a few days up to a month. The length of residential treatment depends on client progress and recovery goals, and many of Ibiza Calm’s clients extend their stays past the one-month mark. Upon admission, each client is assigned a primary therapist. Each day, clients participate in group therapy, psychoeducation lectures and experiential therapy and holistic treatments such as acupuncture and massage. Clients also have yoga and personal training sessions throughout the week.
Therapy uses CBT, as well as other evidence-based modalities, and therapists guide clients through writing exercises that help them identify how addiction has shaped their lives and the desires they have for their futures. Clients are also encouraged to attend local 12-step meetings in the evenings.
The extensive treatment team at Ibiza Calm includes psychiatrists, Master’s-level therapists, social workers, personal trainers, a yoga therapist, nurses and peer support workers. The nursing staff provides medical supervision during detox, and psychiatrists and therapists are experienced providing dual diagnosis support for clients with mental health diagnoses.
Extras
Ibiza Calm provides six months of free aftercare for alumni. It also has a treatment consultants in London to provide aftercare and admissions aid to English clients. Ibiza Calm encourages families to participate in treatment and invites them to a monthly family support and education session. Ibiza Calm also provides intervention services to help loved ones encourage treatment.
