The Basics
Human Service Center (HSC) Partners in Healthcare is a large behavioral health organization with 14 locations throughout Illinois. Based in Peoria, the non-profit has been serving the community since 1976, offering a wide range of programs—including outpatient treatment for substance abuse—all accredited by the Joint Commission and the state of Illinois. Clients with co-occurring disorders can also be treated here.
Treatment and Staff
For those in need of detox, HSC has a 12-bed unit in its Community Crisis Center where clients can stabilize under the supervision of medical staff before transitioning into an outpatient program. For clients addicted to opiates, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is available using methadone and Suboxone. These programs include individual and group counseling, as well as regular check-ins with nurses on staff.
The main outpatient program is called Transitions and lasts for eight to 12 weeks, with three hour group sessions available during the day or at night for convenience. Treatment relies heavily on CBT and behavioral life skills classes and while specific tracks are individualized, all plans are primarily based in groups sessions, though individual therapy can be worked into the schedule as needed.
HSC also offers an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) that uses the same treatment methods, but requires a time commitment of nine hours a week. Usually clients attend three group seeing per week or two groups and one individual session. AA/NA meetings are recommended as a part of the programs but are not required.
Staff varies by location but generally includes physicians, psychiatrists, nurses, LPCs and LADCs.
Extras
For for intensive treatment, HSC offers residential programs at Knolls Center for Change for men or New Leaf Lodge and Retreat for women, though both facilities provide outpatient as well. There are similar treatment tiers for clients with mental health issues exclusively, with outpatient and residential options available.
