Paris IllinoisThe Basics

At Human Resource Center of Edgar and Clark Counties, adults, adolescents, and families are provided with a range of behavioral health services to help promote a healthy lifestyle. HRC operates two facilities in Marshall and Paris, Illinois. Both locations offer mental health and substance abuse support with a standard outpatient track and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Treatment includes group and individual therapy, 12-step participation, and medication management for individuals with co-occurring disorders.

Treatment and Staff

Treatment begins with an assessment to determine a proper level of care. Clients in need of more intensive support like residential treatment are referred to trusted community facilities. Each client works with a primary counselor to establish an individualized treatment plan that consists of weekly group and individual sessions. Those struggling with a dual diagnosis have access to on-site medication management upon request.

Adult services include two levels of care; a standard outpatient track and an IOP. Adults in the IOP meet four times a week for two hour sessions while those in the standard outpatient track attend at least one group session each week. A Master’s-level counselor leads each two-hour session and discusses topics such as the 12 steps, relapse prevention, addiction, anger management, coping skills and vocational goals. Along with group therapy, adults attend one individual therapy session a week for about an hour at a time. Family members are also encouraged to engage in the client’s recovery by scheduling family therapy sessions as needed.

Adolescents have access to two group therapy sessions each week for an hour and half at a time. Individual and family therapy sessions are scheduled as needed. Treatment topics are similar to those discussed in the adult program, however substance abuse prevention is emphasized through educational lectures.

Participation in a 12-step program is not required but is highly recommended. There are no 12-step meetings held on-site but information for support group meetings in the community is provided.

Staff members include Master’s-level counselors with years of experience in treating addiction and psychiatrists. Treatment techniques include evidence-based modalities, 12-step principles, and the use of the Matrix Model.

Extras

In addition to the services mentioned above, HRC offers mental health support to individuals, couples and families in an individual setting. Domestic Violence treatment and Individualized Placement services to support employment are also available.

Active Treatment services for adults with development disabilities are also available and include training and educational classes focused on communication, socialization, safety and vocational skills as well as residential services. While residing in independent living arrangements, adults are provided with meals, 24-support, medication and other community life skills.

Recovery Support Services at HRC consist of the Living Room Project where consumers receive crisis prevention, mentoring and peer recovery assistance, employment services, mental health prevention and education from qualified professionals.

Substance abuse prevention services include a summer program for youth between the ages of 11 and 18 which includes mentoring, coalition involvement and youth prevention education.
