House of Charity Review
House of Charity was founded in the 1950s with the intention of providing aid and services to the poor and homeless. Located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, clients are surrounded by numerous cultural attractions as well as resources to aid them during their recovery. The Chemical and Mental Health Treatment program offered by House of Charity has gender-specific outpatient substance abuse treatment options.
Treatment and Staff
The Chemical and Mental Health Treatment program at House of Charity offers both a men’s outpatient program and a women’s outpatient program. Clients of both programs must first go through an initial evaluation and assessment to determine the level of care needed and which topics to focus on during the treatment phases. Both programs consist of three phases, each comprised of a different number of sessions that may include group and individual therapy, trauma informed care, family therapy and treatment for co-occurring disorders, if necessary.
Phase I consists of 24 sessions and focuses on helping clients gain stabilization with their mental and chemical dependency issues. Phase II consists of 24 sessions and focuses on overcoming the client’s emotional problems or issues such as trauma, healthy relationships, grief and loss. Lastly, Phase III consists of 12 sessions and focuses on the client’s independence both in recovery and through life skills. The therapy is based on CBT methodology. The staff at House of Charity consists of LPCs. LCSWs, LADCs and MFTs.
Extras
In addition to the comprehensive outpatient substance abuse treatment programs, House of Charity also offers a variety of other services to the community including free public meals, mental health counseling, housing services, public showers and community education programs.
