Horizon Treatment Center Review
Based out of Southfield, Michigan, Horizon Treatment Center is a multi-faceted outpatient facility that offers drug and alcohol treatment and a variety of community-oriented services. Founded in 2004, the program is state-licensed and provides Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) for addiction, DUI/DWI services.
Treatment and Staff
Before treatment begins, clients go through an initial assessment to determine the program that is best suited for their recovery needs. The IOP is individualized and flexible, with therapy hours available Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 9 pm. Treatment involves both individual and group therapy where evidence-based practices, such as CBT, are used. Though 12-step participation is not a requirement, clients are encouraged to attend AA/NA meetings on their own time. IOP typically meets for 12 hours a week for four weeks. Clients must be 18 years or older.
Additional outpatient services for children, adolescents and families are available—such as counseling for anxiety, depression, gambling addiction and anger management. For clients with a dual diagnosis, the on-staff psychiatrist can provide medication management.
The staff consists of a psychiatrist, LPCs, Master’s- and PhD-level therapists.
Extras
Court-ordered clients are provided with drug testing, screenings, assessments and domestic violence counseling if needed. Horizon also offers a drug intervention program that helps high-risk or repeat offenders recognize that they have a problem. In addition, it also hosts a number of community outreach programs with nearby churches, group homes and shelters.
