Horizon Health Services Outpatient Review
With a number of locations throughout New York serving Erie, Niagara and Genesee Counties, Horizon Health Services is an expansive behavioral health non-profit organization providing treatment for drug and alcohol addiction. In addition to its residential treatment programs, Horizon Health Services offers flexible outpatient care for substance abuse and mental health issues.
Treatment and Staff
Clients who are 18 years or older and in need of an opiate or benzodiazepine detox undergo a three-day process at the Horizon Village Terrace House location. Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is available to aid with withdrawal symptoms.
Once stabilized, clients get an assessment and begin their individualized plan of group and individual therapy using evidence-based practices such as DBT and trauma-informed care. Family therapy is available as needed. Though not required, clients are encouraged to attend outside 12-step meetings. Special program tracks for veterans and law enforcement officials are also available. All programs can cater to clients with co-occurring disorders.
Staff consists of LCSWs, RNs, physicians and Master’s-level counselors.
Extras
For clients who have been ordered to attend treatment through Buffalo Mental Health Court and Erie County Department of Probation—or who have severe mental illness—case management services are available.
Flexible aftercare planning services and training programs for overdose prevention are offered, as is a specialized therapy dog program for clients in need of additional emotional or mental health support.
