Treatment and Staff
Hoag offers a highly structured schedule of programming seven days a week in a 30, 60 or 90-day program. Detox, if needed, typically lasts between three and seven days and takes place in a private section of the facility.
Treatment combines evidence-based practices, such as CBT and DBT, with more traditional approaches, as well holistic modalities like art, music and equine therapy or visits from therapy animals. EMDR is also available for trauma work.
Hoag offers specialized groups geared toward clients with dual diagnosis, working professionals and young adults (ages 18 to 25), as well as groups that focus on maintaining family relationships, improving communication skills, financial budgeting and managing chronic pain. A typical day has up to four group sessions and a gender-specific AA or NA meeting either on or off campus. Clients also have weekly individual sessions with a counselor.
Staff consists of CADCs.
Extras
Clients engage in a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities like hiking, yoga, whale-watching and weekly trips to the beach. Additionally, clients are taken to the gym several times a week.
Hoag offers an extensive family program in addition to an alumni aftercare program.
