Hinds’ Feet Counseling Review
Hinds’ Feet Counseling was founded in 2009 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, a city located at the eastern base of the Rocky Mountains. The organization offers outpatient substance abuse treatment services to adult men and women.
Treatment and Staff
The intake process at Hinds’ Feet begins with an in-person assessment. If the client is a good fit, the counselors work with them to set up an individualized treatment plan. Hinds refers clients with a higher level of need to outside detox and residential treatment programs.
The outpatient program at Hinds’ lasts for 16 to 20 weeks, and consists of both group and individual counseling. Hinds offers one group session a week for court-ordered clients and another for volunteer clients. The groups consist of between six to eight clients and last for two hours. Counselors in these groups utilize CBT and open up the floor to covering relapse prevention and addiction education, and personal sharing. As previously mentioned, individual counseling is available and the intensity and length of the individual meetings is based on the needs of the clients.
Although counselors at Hinds do not use the 12 steps, they do encourage clients to attend outside AA and NA groups.
Hinds is dual diagnosis and offers a co-occurring psychiatric and substance disorders group. Counselors in this group use psycho-education that combines both addiction treatment and mental health treatment approaches. Hinds also offers a co-occurring group specifically for women with trauma issues.
The counselors at Hinds are LPCs.
Extras
Hinds’ Feet also offers an Experiential Education program as well as a Vocational and Life Skills Training that utilizes recreational activities like hiking to teach clients life management skills and help change their behavioral patterns. It also offers pro-social activities such as ceramics, drawing, painting and jewelry design to teach clients coping skills and how to express them selves in a healthy manner.
Although Hinds’ Feet does not have an official family program, clients can request an individual meeting with a counselor and their family members. These meetings focus on sharing and alcohol and drug education.

The low cost of the program makes it possible for individuals of all economic backgrounds and statuses to receive treatment. The small group sizes allow clients to receive a high level of individualized attention. Also, the Experiential Education Program, Vocational Life Skills Training and pro-social activities provide clients with a fun and creative way for them to learn healthy life skills and enhance their recovery journey.
