Hinds’ Feet Adventures Review
Located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Hinds’ Feet Adventures is an outpatient treatment facility offering programs to men and women. The name Hinds’ Feet is based on a scripture and this rehab takes a unique approach to treating addiction and co-occurring conditions—combining faith, adventure therapy and personal goal achievement.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment programs at HFA are divided into three levels according to client’s specific needs, which is determined in the initial intake assessment with a counselor. They offer Intensive Outpatient (IOP), Enhanced Outpatient programs (EOP) and Outpatient treatment protocols that include various types of group and individual therapy sessions. Those who need medical detox are referred to another facility.
Length of time spent in treatment can vary per client, and on average is between 12 and 20 weeks. Programs are designed to step-down seamlessly as treatment progresses. If the assessment indicates clients should begin with IOP, sessions occur three times a week and include two group meetings and one individual therapy session. The EOP is similar, requiring three to eight hours of therapy and outpatient is about two hours per week. Groups never serve more than 10 clients at a time and are overseen by one therapist per group.
HFA uses a combination of the 12 steps, some aspects of evidence based practices and psychoeducation. Group and individual sessions use CBT, MRT and trauma informed therapy, when applicable. There are specialized groups offered for those who need help with with co-occurring conditions and gender specific topics. There is a big emphasis on experiential activities, like hiking and rock climbing at HFA, hence the “Adventure” portion of the facility’s name. Participants are strongly encouraged to attend outside AA/NA meetings and faith-based meetings in addition to treatment at the facility.
The staff at the facility is small, with only three therapists on-site. All staff are LPC’s experienced with addiction and co-occurring conditions, with over 78 years experience between them.
Extras
Additionally, clients receive vocational training like resume building and job seeking. Sober activities are offered during treatment, like painting, ceramics and other creative outlets.

By basing treatment on individual’s strengths as opposed to focusing on weakness, clients emerge from the facility with a renewed sense of self, which can be carried with them back into the community and daily lives.
