Hillcrest Addiction Rehab Centre Review
Hillcrest Addiction Rehab Centre of Ontario is a residential rehab facility that offers evidence-based and holistic treatment options. Located in peaceful Port Perry, which is a suburb of Toronto, Hillcrest’s approaches include an introduction to the 12 steps as well as psychoeducation classes and workshops.
Accommodations and Food
The 20 to 24 clients who partake in the treatment programs at Hillcrest are privy to luxurious accommodations. The facility is a Victorian mansion on over four acres of private land that includes a pool, sauna, on-site gym, a basketball court and lake views. The 16,000 square foot home has three stories with the top floor being the women’s quarters the middle floor reserved for the men. There are nine bedrooms in total which are shared between two or three clients each in queen-sized beds. The home has 15 bathrooms. The elegantly decorated quarters boast antique furniture and original crown moldings and fixtures.
Shared areas of the facility include several living rooms with leather couches and chairs in front of large stone fireplaces. The dining room opens up to a terrace that overlooks the garden and sprawling estate grounds. A staff chef who offers many different cuisine styles and a variety of choices, prepares the food at Hillcrest. The menus offer gourmet that feature fresh and local ingredients, and can accommodate dietary restrictions and requests.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment at Hillcrest is broken down into three phases; Assessment and Stabilization, Recovery and Aftercare. The first phase typically lasts about a week, with the clients working with the counseling staff to prepare them for the structured schedule while in treatment. During this stage, the clients get a run down of a typical day in the program and participate in daily group therapy. The next phase lasts about 30 days and consists of group and individual therapy, as well as psychoeducational groups and classes, and working on self-care. The final stage of aftercare is about 14 weeks of outpatient group relapse prevention counseling.
Treatment modalities include both traditional and holistic methods like CBT, reality therapy, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Alternative treatment options are available upon request, like art therapy and equine therapy. Mindfulness and mediation practice and nutrition are also focused on with each client as well as establishing healthy boundaries and communication skills. The staff at Hillcrest brings experience to their clients and offer an array of qualifications in the field of addiction that include CADCs, CSWs and LPCs.
A state of the art fitness center is available to all residents. It contains machines and weights and has space for yoga and daily meditation, and the game room includes ping-pong and pool tables.
During the 30 days of treatment, family members of clients are welcome to attend the two-day intensive family program which is designed to educate loved ones about the disease of addiction and learn valuable coping skills of their own.
The incredible location and amenities offer an attractive place to seek treatment. Hillcrest provides that plus a thorough addiction program. This is an excellent choice for those seeking an affordable option with a good mix of traditional and holistic treatment. Perhaps the toughest part of the structured programming at this facility is convincing the clientele to leave once treatment is completed.
