Hill Recovery Review
Six years after beginning his own journey of recovery, Rocky Hill and his wife, Debbie, opened their Temecula Valley, California addiction treatment center in 1986. Since then, Hill Recovery has remained a family-owned and operated business, providing outpatient treatment to their community. Located just 90 minutes south of Los Angeles, Hill Recovery offers a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)—or day treatment—and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for people struggling with substance abuse and addiction.
Treatment and Staff
Hill Recovery practices a two-pronged 12-step and CBT approach to recovery that centers around group therapy, individual counseling and an introduction to the 12 steps. Clients are also encouraged to attend 12-step meetings outside of treatment hours.
PHP is the highest level of care at Hill Recovery—seven hours a day, five days a week of an individualized treatment plan consisting of groups on addiction education, core issues, grief, relapse prevention and 12-step processing. Clients also have one-on-one and family therapy on a weekly basis with a CSAC. Treatment lasts for eight weeks.
Clients in the IOP receive the same individualized treatment plan but meet with their groups three times a week for three-hour sessions. They also have weekly individual and family therapy and are randomly drug tested three times during the eight-week session.
While Hill Recovery doesn’t offer inpatient medical detox, it does have outpatient detox, working with local hospitals that can provide round-the-clock medical supervision. It also works with outside doctors who specialize in Suboxone for opiate addiction. Since Hill Recovery focuses only on chemical dependency and addiction, it does not offer dual diagnosis support.
Hill Recovery’s staff is led by founders Rocky Hill—who has a graduate degree in Psychology and nearly 20 years as a certified alcohol and drug counselor—and his wife, Debbie, who is a registered nurse. There are also three medical doctors, Master’s and Bachelor’s levels counselors and additional nurses on staff, as well as an on-call psychiatrist.
Extras
One of the highlights of Hill Recovery’s programming is the aftercare, which consists of continued weekly individual counseling and group sessions to help clients stay active and accountable in their recovery. Clients of the IOP get six months of free aftercare while those in PHP get a lifetime of support. Above and beyond treatment, Hill Recovery also offers intervention strategies, court assessments and expert witness testimony.
In Summary
With encouragement to get plugged into the local 12-step community, Hill Recovery is a place where prospective clients could be able to create good habits while in treatment—and, with the aftercare program, put a nice structure in place that can carry them into long-term recovery.
