Hialeah Hospital Review

Based out of Hialeah, a city in Florida’s Miami-Dade County, Hialeah Hospital is a broad medical organization which, in addition to its primary medical care services, offers many programs for clients struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders. Founded in 1951, the hospital has support for residents of any age. In addition to the less intensive outpatient programs, the organization also offers psychiatric inpatient care.

Accommodations and Staff

All told, the Hialeah Hospital behavioral health wing has 12 beds available in shared and private rooms. All beds are twin-sized and the rooms are fairly clinical with basic decor and closet space. The inpatient unit itself is expansive and complete with modern furniture, group therapy rooms, natural light and common areas with cable TV as well. Clients can be admitted at any time as the facility is open 24/7. Because Hialeah Hospital’s programs are acute, stays are typically short-term and last fewer than 30 days. Throughout their stay, residents are served three meals a day plus snacks in an on-site cafeteria.

Treatment and Staff

Before treatment begins, clients go through an initial intake and assessment process to help staff members develop their treatment plans. Because the facility is an acute care program with medical and psychiatric oversight, on-site detox and stabilization services are available. Throughout their stay, clients also attend individual and group therapy with evidence-based treatment practices including CBT and DBT. Dual diagnosis support and medication management can be facilitated.

Treatment also includes holistic approaches such as mindfulness training and art therapy. All programs are individualized and groups may vary, though they often cover topics like coping skills, grief processing, anger management, trigger identification and relapse prevention. While 12-step recovery is not required, clients may be encouraged to seek out meetings when applicable.

The staff at Hialeah Hospital consists of psychiatrists, doctors, RNs, psychologists, LMHCs, LCSWs, case managers and additional Master’s-level clinicians.

Extras

In addition to its behavioral health services, the hospital also offers a full suite of medical care services as well. Spanish-language speaking services are also available as is support for clients struggling with eating disorders. Those who complete primary care can also work with on-site staff to develop step-down aftercare plans as necessary, often in the form of outpatient treatment.

In Summary

Overall, Hialeah Hospital is a well-rounded organization with a wide range of services available for clients with behavioral health issues. Treatment includes evidence-based care, psychiatric oversight, holistic methods and educational groups as well. All treatment plans are individualized and offer support for any number of mood disorders or related issues. While the cost of care may vary by insurance, Hialeah Hospital’s inpatient plans remain a strong resource for those in the area.
