Herren Wellness Review
Herren Wellness was founded by former Boston Celtics player turned motivational speaker, Chris Herren. In 2008, he sought treatment for addiction to drugs and alcohol. Herren Wellness offers an alternative to traditional rehabs in that it aims to help people who are in danger of becoming addicted, but haven’t gotten to that place yet. With holistic and personalized wellness plans, Herren Wellness is essentially a combination of life coaching, fitness, education and life skills training. Designed adults only, it provides not only substance abuse services but also dual diagnosis support.
Accommodations and Food
Clients who participate in the wellness program reside in a former bed and breakfast at Jacob Hill. The historic inn, which was built in the 1700, sits on over five acres of land and can accommodate up to 22 clients. The facility is impressive and the newly remodeled digs provide comfort and structure for the guests. There are private and semi-private rooms available, and every room has a TV. Wifi is available throughout the faiclty. The grounds contain a workout room, tennis court, meeting rooms, pool and game room with billiard table.
Nutrition is a big element of the program, so clients are provided with healthy, well balanced meals three times a day. Clients also receive cooking classes to learn how to properly fuel their bodies and eat in a way that’s optimal for recovery
Treatment and Staff
The minimum amount of time a client can stay at Herren Wellness is four weeks, with the maximum being up to six months. This program combines a number of holistic approaches that stray from the traditional form of rehab protocols and includes a structured daily regimen of group and individual therapy, educational groups, eating well, working out and receiving alternative treatments.
A typical day includes an 8 am wake up followed by mindfulness meditation, a workshop and reflections groups, an outside AA or Smart Recovery meeting, guest speakers and lectures, and some form of exercise or personal training. Every client is treated from an individualized perspective that aims at answering the “inner why” in regards to their potential addiction and where it may have come from.
There is a staff of about 10 who have extensive experience working in the recovery and health fields.
Extras
Some of the holistic treatments can include Reiki, massage, yoga and acupuncture. There is a family specialist who offers guidance during and after their loved ones experience at Herren Wellness.

Clients live in luxury and learn through a variety of treatments how to address their needs without the crutch of drugs and alcohol.
