Healing Springs Ranch Review
Located on a 50-acre lakefront property north of Dallas, Healing Springs Ranch is an adult residential treatment program for mental health issues and substance addiction in Tioga, Texas. Founded in 2016 by a group of healthcare professionals, its program is designed to treat the client’s overall wellbeing.
Accommodations and Food
Healing Springs Ranch can accommodate up to 30 adult clients in a motel-style residence. The double rooms have two queen-size beds and an en suite bathroom. There are common areas with TVs that are only used to view recovery-related materials.
There is a business center with Internet access and computers that clients may use for work-related business only. Healing Spring Ranch permits limited cell and personal laptop use for businesses purposes only. All other times, personal cell phones and electronic devices are secured and a facility phone is available to clients.
Meals are organic and locally sourced and prepared by a chef and served restaurant style in a communal dining room.
Treatment and Staff
Healing Springs Ranch offers residential treatment for 30 to 90 days. It does not offer detox but it can administer medications to clients who recently underwent detox.
It integrates treatments for mental health disorders and substance abuse through its Integrated Addiction Model that includes evidence-based practices, dual diagnosis support, trauma-informed care, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), 12-step and SMART Recovery. Clients have individual therapy three times a week, a larger than usual average for residential treatment program. Group therapy includes gender-specific processing, psychodynamic therapy, psychodrama, anger management, core curriculum and functional living.
Mental health diagnoses that HSR treats include PTSD, OCD, DID, depression, anxiety and eating and personality disorders. Trauma and other addictions like gambling are also treated in addition to substance abuse.
Generally, clients wake up at 7 am for yoga and breakfast. Throughout the day they attend individual and group sessions with time built in for recreational and personal time. Dinner is at 5 pm and lights out is at 10:30.
Healing Spring Ranch has 40 mixed gender staff members that includes a Master’s-level clinical director, medical doctors, nurses, a psychologist, Master’s-level and PhD LPCs and LCDCs. The staff-to-client ratio is one-to-one.
Extras
HSR offers extensive recreational amenities including an on-site gym, pool, a nine-hole golf course, kayaking and fishing. Visitation is permitted on Sundays.
Through its Functional Living Wellness Program, clients are taught nutrition and wellness. Healing Spring Ranch also offers yoga, art and equine therapy.
Counselors work closely with clients to craft an aftercare plan two to three weeks before discharge. Healing Springs Ranch offers life and job skills education, job training resources and case management.
For its family program, Healing Springs Ranch hosts a one-week on-site counseling intensive for clients’ families.
