Healing Path RecoveryHealing Path Recovery Review

Healing Path Recovery in Costa Mesa, California provides comprehensive behavioral health services for those struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. The facility offers standard outpatient care and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) for adults. Healing Path was founded in 2014 by Dr. Sayah Beheshti, who serves as the Medical Director. Dr. Beheshti completed her residency in psychiatry at UC Irvine Medical Center. She has been involved in addiction treatment for more than a decade and incorporates mindfulness and meditation into her practice as a means of fostering a holistic approach to recovery.

Treatment and Staff

Prior to admittance, individuals undergo clinical assessments and psychiatric examinations. They are assigned a primary counselor, who works closely with them to develop individualized treatment plans. Healing Path Recovery provides Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) including Vivitrol or Suboxone to ease withdrawal symptoms. Clients requiring more intensive detox are provided with referrals to residential treatment facilities.

The IOP is typically between eight and 12 weeks, depending on the assessment. Clients begin by attending groups three hours per day, four days per week for the first month, followed by two sessions weekly, until the end of IOP. Healing Path Recovery implements both evidence-based modalities, specifically CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI), along with 12-step concepts. IOP facilitates group and individual therapy, family therapy and medication management and encourages clients to attend 12-step meetings. Group topics include co-occurring disorders, addiction as a disease, relapse prevention and life skills. Groups typically range between five and 10 clients per session. As the IOP phase winds down, clients and their primary counselors review progress to ensure that goals set forth in the individualized treatment plans are met. After IOP, outpatient treatment typically involves an additional month of weekly groups and individual therapy as needed as a step down to help clients transition into independence and maintain their recovery.

In addition to Dr. Beheshti, the staff includes Master’s-level MFTs, a peer recovery counselor, art therapist and health coach.

Extras

The family program includes one weekly multi-family group session and individual family therapy, as needed.

In Summary

Healing Path Recovery offers a comprehensive outpatient program that provides MAT when needed. With a solid mix of evidence-based practices, holistic healing and 12-step approaches as well as dual diagnosis support, this outpatient facility is an excellent resource in Orange County.
