structured living llcThe Basics

With 10 gender-specific facilities in the greater Ann Arbor, Michigan area (plus several luxury and corporate sober living options), The Structured House Organization provides sober housing to hundreds of people from a variety of financial circumstances. Since its inception in 2005, it has served those who are new to recovery, as well as those seeking a way to establish a stronger foundation in sobriety.

Accommodations and Amenities

The corporate and luxury living facilities cater to white-collar clients or those who require more privacy. Rooms can be single- or double-occupancy, each equipped with its own bathroom. Meals are designed to meet each client’s dietary needs, with all meals prepared by cooks. Housekeeping and laundry services are also provided.

It is common for executive residents to require accommodations outside of Ann Arbor so they can stay active in their jobs. As a result, Structured House has expanded to include residences in Spain and the UK. For an additional fee, a sober travel companion can be provided for clients. Wi-Fi, cable and Internet are included in the price for each resident so they can stay connected while at their chosen facility.

The regular accommodations are gender-specific and double-occupancy, with five bedrooms in each house. The rooms come with twin beds, a bedside table and drawers for clothing. Each room has its own bathroom complete with a tub and shower. The shared living spaces are cozy, with couches around the TV in the living room and a small office-like space complete with desk and community computer.

Unlike the executive and luxury accommodations, those in the standard living facilities must provide their own food and cook their own meals. They are also required to take care of all chores and household duties. A washer and dryer is hooked up in each unit so residents can do their own laundry as well.

Parking is no problem at any of the facilities and the standard houses are near bus stations for those without cars.

Rules and Regulations

There is a strict no-tolerance policy for relapse at any of the facilities. If a client is in possession of or has used any alcohol or substance, they are immediately removed from the premises and given no refund. Regular, random drug screenings are given to keep residents honest.

Rent is due on the first of each month for those in standard accommodations. On the fifth of each month, the payment is considered late, which is grounds for removal from the facility.

Each client in the standard facilities is required to obtain and retain employment unless they are full-time students. Residents must attend daily AA meetings and obtain sponsorship. There is a curfew, though it is flexible for those who work late or attend night school.

Extras

Clients have the option of enrolling in Structured House’s Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at a vastly reduced rate for the duration of their stay. The program includes daily group therapy, weekly individual therapy, art therapy and various holistic services such as yoga, meditation and massage therapy.

In Summary

The Structured House Organization offers a range of housing options for those in early recovery. In the luxury accommodations, residents enjoy privacy and a serene environment in which recovery is their only focus. With something for everybody, Structured House is a place for clients to maintain their sobriety and continue transforming their lives.
