Haven House Addiction Treatment operates two sober living locations; co-ed apartments in Century City and the Santa Monica location for men, ages 18 and up. This chic, sumptuous facility provides a secure and peaceful environment with an emphasis on personal responsibility. Clients are given ground rules, house chores and curfews and are drug tested three times per week.

Accommodations and Amenities

Haven House Santa Monica is located on 10^th Street near the trendy Montana Avenue, minutes from the Pacific Ocean. There is a landscaped fountain in the front and the backyard has a barbeque, lounge, lap pool and Jacuzzi.

The interior is lush, with 12-foot ceilings, hardwood floors, a grand piano, remodeled kitchen with granite counters and ultra modern appliances. There is a formal dining room and entertainment rooms, with large screen TVs, Internet access and cable. A spiral staircase leads to the second floor, its bedrooms and three full bathrooms.

The house can accommodate up to 10 residents at a time. Rooms are generally double occupancy and lavishly furnished with queen beds and down comforters. Single rooms are available, for an additional fee. All rooms are outfitted with TVs. There is a laundry room off the kitchen and residents are responsible for their personal items, linens and towels. The kitchen is always fully stocked with a healthy variety of food, supplied by staff and informed by resident request. Dinner is often takeout ($20 is covered), ordered from a restaurant of the clients choosing.

Rules and Regulations

Potential residents musts be at least 30 days sober and be active members of a 12-step program. Residents are drug tested three times per week, assigned daily house chores and must go to five 12-step meetings per week. Curfew is 11 pm on weekdays and weekends at midnight. Clients are expected to get a sponsor and begin working the steps.

The house managers work in two shifts: 8 am to 4 pm and 4 pm to 2 am. They are responsible for passing out medication, bed checks, collecting signed meeting attendance sheets and drug testing. They also oversee any food shopping, house maintenance and act as a voice in any controversy. There is a zero tolerance for alcohol, drugs, violence or any type of discrimination. Other than curfew, meetings and maintaining sobriety, residents have the freedom to come and go as they please. There are no free rides at Haven House. Clients are responsible for their own transportation to and from meetings and other activities.

Length of stay depends on the person. While the minimum stay is normally 30 days, most residents stay for at least four months and some have stayed as long as two years. As long as they maintain sobriety, follow house rules and continue to work with a sponsor, they can stay as long as they need to.

Extras

Bundled packages are available for sober living and outpatient treatment on a private pay basis. Some of these fees might even be covered by certain health care plans.

In Summary

Haven House for men is an upscale facility located in one of the most prestigious sections of Santa Monica. Close to the ocean, steps away from high-end retails shops, yoga studios and city parks, Haven House puts clients who can afford it, square in the middle of the West Side action. That being said, a car or a car service is probably a necessity here.
