Haven Hills Recovery Review
Haven Hills Recovery is a luxury Southern California women’s-only facility that specializes in dual diagnosis, primarily eating disorders and addiction or substance abuse. It has Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and standard outpatient levels of care. Treatment is individualized and includes both evidence-based and 12-step approaches in addition to holistic remedies. These modalities are implemented during group and individual therapy, psychoeducation and nutritional therapy sessions.
Treatment and Staff
Haven Hills Recovery’s programming is open-ended in order to encourage clients to fully immerse themselves treatment without the worry of completing a program within a certain amount of time. The most intensive level of treatment, the PHP, provides up to 40 hours of programming each week, eight hours a day. The days consist of group and individual sessions, nutritional education and therapy, in addition to life skill oriented activities such as grocery shopping or going out to eat in a group.
The step down level is the IOP, which is between 12 and 20 hours weekly and usually entails the client beginning to reintroduce previous responsibilities and activities like work or school. At the beginning of the IOP clients still attend treatment five days a week for about five hours a day, and gradually taper off to three days a week for three hours a day. At each stage they are still receiving therapy and support as well as therapeutic meals and snacks daily.
Treatment is a combination of therapeutic disciplines from more traditional to holistic. This includes CBT, DBT, EMDR, Attachment Theory, Somatic Experiencing Therapy (SET), psychodrama, elements of the 12 steps or SMART Recovery and yoga. Talk therapy topics cover common issues like self esteem, family relationships and past traumatic experiences. The therapists work closely with each client to uncover the underlying cause of the eating disorder and work to address those issues within a supportive community.
Throughout treatment, the women are monitored by medical and clinical professionals who offer a variety of resources and extensive experience working with clients with eating disorders and chemical dependency. This includes physicians and nurses, LMFTs and dieticians.

There is a family program that provides counseling and educational services for the clients’ loved ones.
