Located 60 miles south of Seattle in the state capitol of Olympia, Washington, The Haven Detox Center provides short-term inpatient detox as well as outpatient substance abuse programs for adults. A brand new facility, The Haven was established in mid-2015.

Accommodations and Food

The accommodations at The Haven are stylish and comfortable. While there are 14 places available, the number of clients is usually kept to nine or 10. All have private rooms, with men and women separated across the two sides of the building. Each room is furnished with a full-size bed, closet and 46-inch TV. The common area also contains a large TV with X-Box and cozy couches.

A gourmet Chef prepares all meals, and a wide range of snacks are available at all times. Food is tasty and nutritious, appropriate for the client’s individual dietary plan.

Treatment and Staff

Exclusively a detox facility, clients remain for up to 14 days. A staff of doctors and registered nurses provide medically based treatment, including medication management. A psychiatrist performs evaluations to determine the need for dual diagnosis support. If needed, clients are referred to other centers after detox is completed. This option is most suitable for clients with co-occurring disorders or for those needing intensive, long-term inpatient care.

As the detox process is physically taxing, there are few additional therapeutic activities offered. A CADC provides individual counseling and establishes a treatment plan, including goals, together with the client. This may include referrals for a long-term program, sober living or participation in the outpatient program at The Haven.

Outpatient consists of group therapy Monday through Friday, from 6 pm to 9 pm. Clients participate in this program for at least 30 and up to 90 days. A CADC facilitates all sessions, as well as weekly individual therapy. Groups focus on relapse prevention, life skills and managing emotions.

Nutritional counseling is provided, with each client receiving education as well as individualized dietary plans.

In Summary

The Haven Detox Center boasts luxurious new facilities and specialized treatment options. Medical monitoring is essential during detox and there is ample medical staff to ensure adequate and safe care. The outpatient program is $6,000 per month. However, the daily fee for detox is $850, which is lower than many. For those seeking a comfortable and well-appointed location in which to detox, The Haven is an excellent choice.

I am sorry to hear about your family’s experience with this company. I hope that your nephew has finally been able to find the help that he needs.

The same organization wants to install a facility in my area – in an isolated part of the city with elderly couples and young families; but this facility will not keep people from leaving and entering into our neighborhood – either voluntarily or otherwise. Do you have any additional information on the company that may address other promises that they made that were not kept?

Horrible experience because our family was lied to initially and it resulted in disaster. I called to make sure that the minimum amount of time my nephew would be in detox would be 5 days. Other than the research showing that no one dteoxes in less than this time, we had set somewhere to transfer him to after 5 days. The Haven reps assured me of the five days, but released him in 3 days, not because he wanted to leave, but because he said he would not go to their affiliates rehabs, but was already set up with one the family chose. So their doctor signed off that he was medically ok for release after 3 days (we had no notice of this), and in the gap between the place we had him set up for and their early release, he relapsed and is now on the streets. No family should have to go through this after careful planning for a loved one. That time after detox is crucial and we rechecked the schedule several times with different reps. Nightmare.
