Haven Corporation Review
Haven Corporation is a behavioral health agency that has been serving clients in Colorado since 2006. Its services are available to individuals of all ages and their families, as well as to at-risk youth through drug and alcohol counseling and psychoeducation programs. Substance abuse treatment takes place in clients’ homes and consists of individual therapy. These plans include evidence-based therapy, substance abuse education and random drug and alcohol tests. HC believes that by providing in-home services, counselors are better able to assess environmental factors that might be influencing each participant’s addiction issues.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment with Haven begins with an initial assessment reviewing a client’s background and history of substance abuse. Following intake, each individual is matched with a certified addiction counselor. Clients work with their counselor to develop individualized treatment plans which determine the frequency of individual sessions. Psychiatric medication management is not available, though referrals are provided when necessary.
Clients are required to complete at least six weeks of treatment, during which individual therapy sessions are scheduled as needed. Each of these sessions typically last for about an hour. Individual therapy includes both traditional talk therapy as well as evidence-based modalities like CBT and psychoeducation. Topics discussed include substance abuse education, relapse prevention, positive changes, building autonomy and social competency skills. Aside from individual therapy sessions, clients must regularly submit to drug and alcohol tests. Though the 12 steps are not part of the program, meeting directories for local support groups in the community can be provided upon request. Staff members consist primarily of CADCs and other licensed care providers.
Extras
HC offers a Homebuilders program for troubled families in need of counseling services. Treatment includes a four to six week intensive in-home program that provides eight to 10 hours of family counseling each week. The program uses evidence-based modalities, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and educational lectures to promote healthy changes in the family. Clients in the program also have access to on-call practitioners around the clock in case of emergency.
Help Us Save A Child (HUSAC) is a division of HC that offers child placement services. These are available to at-risk youth in need of foster care or group home placement. The team at HUSAC works to promote successful outcomes by providing weekly home visits that include therapeutic, educational and training services.

For those seeking intimate in-home care for substance abuse and family counseling when applicable, Haven Corporation offers a very specific to serve those needs. Treatment is varied, including 12-step principles as well as evidence-based therapy. While those in need of more intensive dual-diagnosis support may need to look elsewhere, Haven Corporation is still a worthy service for those looking for a unique treatment approach.
