Harrington Family Health Center Review
The Harrington Family Health Center is a medical, dental and mental health facility located in Harrington, Maine. Since 1984, HFHC has offered services to the Washington and Hancock counties. In addition to offering medical and dental care, the mental health facilities provide a simplified approach to substance abuse treatment. Outpatient treatment services are available for adults, adolescents and children who are either directly dealing with chemical dependency or in contact with individuals who are struggling with addiction.
Treatment and Staff
The mental health facilities at HFHC offer outpatient services for families, adults, adolescents and children. Prior to seeking treatment, clients must schedule an appointment for a bio-psycho-social assessment with one of the therapists with a specialty in admittance coordination. Once assessed, the client and their counselor develop an individualized treatment plan with specific goals and objectives. Clients on average meet with clients once or twice per week primarily for individual therapy to work on relapse prevention techniques, coping skills and healing from trauma.
Family and couples therapy is included in the program to ensure that clients are resolving relationship conflicts and developing an environment in the home that is conducive to recovery. Dual diagnosis support is offered for individuals with co-occurring disorders. Therapy methods include evidence-based practices which use CBT and DBT methods. The facility also employs play therapy for children and adolescents. Twelve step fellowship meetings are offered as a form of group therapy for clients to find group support in the community. The mental health staff consists of two therapists who are LCSWs, LPCs and who have extensive experience in substance abuse treatment.
Extras
The HFHC facility includes medical and dental assistance for clients in need of additional services. If clients are in need of more intensive chemical dependency treatment, therapists offer resources and referrals to facilities in the community.
