Those who need detox are provided a safe, comfortable setting while being attended to 24 hours a day by trained staff. Trauma therapy begins immediately, unlike other programs that require physical stabilization prior to starting group and individual sessions. Harmony Heals maintains a philosophy that this element helps clients get the most out of detox and reduces relapse rates. After detox, the residential program begins. There is a specialized track specifically for those beginning their recovery while also healing from trauma. Daily treatment includes plenty of traditional therapy, as well as on and off-site AA meetings, holistic therapy and recreational activities.
Once clients achieve the exit criteria for residential care, they may transition to a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). This level of care provides at least six hours a day of individual or group therapy tailored to client’s needs, including continuing some of the same groups from the residential stage. Clients are also seen at least once a week by a therapist and continue to meet with a case manager regularly. Those in PHP may be moved into a affiliated sober living home near the Laguna Beach facility. During this stage, clients continue to be supervised by the staff and recreational activities remain available to them.
Staff includes Master’s-level clinicians and MFTs, and trained support staff experienced in addiction treatment. There is also a nursing staff available for safety. Harmony Heals does not employ physicians and psychiatrists but it does connect clients to medical personnel with extensive experience in addiction medicine and behavior.
