Based in Meadville, Pennsylvania and founded in 2007, Greenfield Counseling offers substance abuse treatment on an outpatient basis. The CARF-accredited facility provides a methadone maintenance program with weekly group and individual therapy sessions as well, comprising a standard outpatient program. Based on its location near the New York and Ohio borders, Greenfield is able to offer services to nearby residents of this tri-state area as well.
Treatment and Staff
Clients at Greenfield Counseling receive daily methadone maintenance services overseen by an on-staff physician and a physician’s assistant. Suboxone treatment is also offered at the facility. Medical detox services are not available at Greenfield Counseling.
Greenfield Counseling’s outpatient services are a mixture of group and individual sessions. Groups are held once a week while individual therapy is scheduled twice a month. All these sessions are led by LADCs though the facility also has several Bachelor’s and Master’s-level counselors on staff to assist and supervise therapy.
Group sessions are kept small with no more than 10 clients at a time. Treatment focuses primarily on CBT. Though the program does not delve into 12-step concepts, clients are referred to local meetings and encouraged to participate in AA/NA. Dual diagnosis support is also available at Greenfield Counseling in the form of special group and individual sessions addressing co-occurring disorders. Still, there is no psychiatrist on staff and medication management is not offered, so those in need of more comprehensive mental health services typically must be referred to outside facilities.
Greenfield Counseling provides a range of additional services relating to referrals, including case management
, housing assistance, employment help and legal aid. The facility also has a family program allowing clients to bring family members to a specialized group and individual sessions. The program at Greenfield Counseling is long-term, with clients typically receiving methadone services for 18 months to two years.
Aside from primary care, aftercare is also available in the form of as-needed group and individual sessions. While Greenfield Counseling does not offer on-site AA or NA meetings, MA (Methadone Anonymous) meetings are hosted and are open to all. These groups serve as a vital asset particularly to those reaching the end of their program.
Though Greenfield Counseling is primarily methadone-based treatment with therapy services, clients can still expect a standard outpatient program with CBT-based group and individual session. Additionally, Greenfield Counseling’s case management services and aftercare options are available for those who finish primary care. For those seeking treatment for opiates in need of medical treatment, Greenfield Counseling may be worth considering.
