St. Joseph Mercy Health System is a hospital that provides an array of health care services to residents in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Greenbrook Recovery Center is an addiction and behavioral health services branch of SJM, where clients are offered Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and standard outpatient help for chemical dependency. The highly qualified psychiatrist, counselors and licensed therapist at Greenbrook aim to provide comprehensive services to adolescents and adults through individual, group and family therapy sessions. Along with treatment, aftercare services are available for added support.

Treatment and Staff

Treatment at Greenbook consists of several chemical dependency options including assessments, IOP, outpatient treatment for adolescents and adults, and weekly drug and alcohol education classes. All clients are required to undergo an evaluation with a licensed therapist to determine the proper treatment path for them. While treatment length varies, clients are encouraged to commit to a minimum of 90 days. Detox is not available.

The IOP is for adults 18 and over. Clients meet for group therapy sessions three days a week and individual sessions once a week, for a total of nine hours. Meetings are offered during the afternoon and evening and the topics include communication skills, coping skills, stress management, addictive thinking patterns, peer and family influences, drug and alcohol education, trauma and recovery groups. While 12-step participation is not mandatory, staff members can provide referrals to outside meetings upon request.

Greenbrook’s standard outpatient care is available to adults and adolescents, with the adolescent program open to those between 12 and 18 years old. Both programs offer individual and group therapy once a week for two and a half hours each. For those with co-occurring disorders, support is offered through group therapy specific to their issues. These clients can also receive medication management and psychiatric services.

Family members are also invited to participate in individual therapy sessions. This arrangement is made upon family members’ request, but is encouraged at least once a month. For adolescents, family group sessions are offered once a week.

Therapeutic techniques used in all programs include CBT and DBT.  The team at Greenbrook consists of LPCs, licensed therapists and a psychiatrist.

Extras

Greenbrook offers an aftercare program that focuses on topics such as relapse prevention and vocational counseling.

In Summary

Greenbrook Recovery Center offers a flexible treatment program to clients seeking positive changes in hopes of freeing themselves from chemical dependencies. The program options cater to adults and adolescents who need support for substance abuse recovery while also providing assistance to those with co-occurring disorders.
