Green Oaks Hospital Review
Green Oaks Hospital is a behavioral health services organization with facilities in Dallas, Plano, McKinney and Las Colinas, Texas. Since the mid-1980s it has been serving the residents of Plano—a large city 20 miles northeast of Dallas—with an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for substance abuse. Currently, the Plano location offers the network’s only dedicated substance abuse track, though the other branches provide basic outpatient and residential treatment for mental health diagnoses.
Treatment and Staff
The IOP at Green Oaks is eight weeks in duration. Clients attend group therapy three times each week and individual therapy once a week. Therapy has humanistic and relational orientations and utilizes a combination of CBT and Mindfulness techniques. Groups vary in size, but generally don’t exceed 15 participants. Families are encouraged to take an active role in their loved one’s recovery and are invited to attend a family therapy group for education and support.
Groups are led by counselors with Chemical Dependency Professional (CDP) credentials. While dual diagnosis support is not included in the IOP, clients with co-occurring disorders can receive treatment from Green Oaks mental health counselors and therapists for an additional fee.
Green Oaks does not require clients to attend 12-step meetings, but clients are encouraged to seek out community groups if they’d like to develop a peer support network.
Extras
Green Oaks in Plano also offers mental health counseling, including a five-week return-to-work program for those who have had to leave employment due to mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression.
