Gratitude Homes of Tampa Bay Review
Located in downtown Tampa, Florida, Gratitude Homes of Tampa Bay provides quality sober living based on the 12 steps for men in recovery from addiction. Through a comfortable and safe living environment with strict daily structure and house guidelines, GHTB is serious when it comes to recovery.
Accommodations and Amenities
GHTB’s accommodations are two small, inviting houses—both on West Cass Street—that provide up to 25 men with all the essentials of comfortable living. Clients share rooms, but have their own twin-size bed with storage, a nightstand and closet. There is a fully equipped kitchen where clients make their own meals and a breakfast bar where clients can enjoy their meals. The living room comes with plenty of couches and chairs as well as a TV and stereo.
Rules and Regulations
GHTB requires clients to comply with their house guidelines or they will be discharged from the house. Clients must attend five 12-step meetings per week, attend Big Book study and have their meeting slip signed by the meeting secretary. Attendance at house meetings is mandatory and the house manager must pre-approve all outings. Clients must sign out when leaving the premises and sign back in on returning, and are required to meet with the house manager once a week to discuss their recovery progress and program.
Clients must also find a home group and a sponsor within the first week of living at GHTB. Full-time employment is also required and is monitored weekly. In addition, clients are responsible for keeping their rooms clean and are assigned daily and weekend chores. Clients must also agree to random drug testing while at GHTB and smoking is not permitted.
Extras
Although GHTB’s focus is a structured sober living environment, the house manager is on site 24/7 to assist clients in whatever they may need. Additionally, clients have access to all that Tampa—a popular Florida beach city—has to offer.
In Summary
Although GHTB does not have luxurious amenities and their house rules may be too strict for some, their commitment to treatment and recovery yields results. The guidelines are in place to make sure that clients maintain sobriety and continue recovery. The comfortable and homey house creates an environment of safety and support.
