Grande Ronde Recovery Review
The small eastern Oregon city of LaGrande is home to Grande Ronde Recovery, the substance abuse treatment branch of an organization that also includes Blue Mountain Associates, which focuses on mental health. Grande Ronde offers outpatient addiction and substance abuse treatment services for adolescents and adults as well as treatment for gambling addiction and DUI classes. Dual diagnosis support, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) that may include Suboxone and an outpatient detox program are available.
Treatment and Staff
Treatment at GRR begins with a screening that includes a drug and alcohol assessment. The charge for this service is $150. Based on the assessment, an individualized treatment plan is devised to suit the client’s needs. If it is determined that services are needed beyond what Grande Ronde offers, they provide a referral.
Clients typically attend individual therapy once a week and group therapy once or twice a week. Treatment combines CBT with the 12-step approach. Clients may choose individual 12-step instruction with their counselor. The base charge for individual sessions is $111 per hour, or $58 for a half hour, and each group session is $50. Random urinalysis is conducted up to three times per week. The average length of treatment at Grande Ronde is 90 days, but self-referrals have the option of leaving treatment after 60 days.
Grande Ronde’s 60-day opiate detox program consists of treatment with Suboxone, in conjunction with group and individual therapy. Long-term drug replacement therapy and medication management is also available. A psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner are included in the treatment team for those with co-occurring disorders.
The staff includes five CADCs, a psychiatric nurse practitioner and a psychiatrist.
Extras
Grande Ronde also offers gambling addiction treatment, which is provided for free in the state of Oregon. Clients are helped by a certified gambling addictions counselor and a certified alcohol and drug counselor, if their gambling co-exists with substance abuse issues, as well as a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner for those with co-occurring mental health issues. The 60-day program includes individual counseling and evening group therapy. Finally, Grande Ronde provides DUI education and rehabilitation programs.
In Summary
Grande Ronde Recovery benefits from being part of a team that includes the mental health professionals at Blue Mountain Associates. The substance abuse treatment services are basic, but having so many trained professionals in one place is an attractive feature. If mental health issues are a concern when seeking treatment for addiction, this is a great place for outpatient care. The sliding scale payment plan that can go as low as $100 for 30 days could be the clincher.
