Good Works Recovery Review

With facilities in Pennsylvania and Florida, Good Works Recovery provides transitional and sober living homes for individuals in the early stages of recovery. The Pennsylvania home is open exclusively to men whereas the Florida location is only available to women. Both residences provide comfortable and safe accommodations as well as flexible lengths of stay, though most people reside at Good Works Recovery for three to six months.

Accommodations and Amenities

While the homes differ somewhat, each comes with 12 beds for men and women, respectively. Bedrooms are shared between residents and each comes with full beds, dressers, end tables, basic decor and shared closet space. In addition to the bedrooms, the houses also have stately furnishing throughout, WiFi and cable TV, common lounge areas, outdoor swimming pools, hot tubs and fully-equipped kitchens. Throughout their stay, all clients are expected to help cook and prepare their own meals, though some group meals and dinners are provided as well.

Rules and Regulations

As with many similar facilities, the residents at Good Works Recovery are expected to follow a house behavioral contract and to remain in a good standing with all the other clients and staff members. Residents should also remain sober throughout the program and submit to regular and random drug tests. Additionally, all clients are expected to stay busy during the program—whether it’s attending school; seeking employment or working; volunteering or attending outpatient treatment.

Extras

Good Works Recovery encourages residents to form relationships with one another and to be involved in the community. As such, clients often take off-site trips to participate in sober activities—these sometimes include bowling tournaments, trips to the movies and other fellowship events. Transportation services are also available for those who need to go to 12-step meetings or to jobs. Residents may also participate in community service projects with the help of staff. Other structured activities are built into these stays as well including morning meditations, art and wellness classes and more. Finally, those who complete a program can work with staff and case managers to develop step-down aftercare programs as necessary.

In Summary

Overall, Good Works Recovery is a well-rounded organization that offers safe and stable sober environments for men and women in the beginning days of abstinence from drugs and alcohol. The lengths of stay are flexible and the facility fosters a communal approach where residents participate in local culture and learn how to live a fulfilling sober life. While the cost may vary depending on the length of stay, Good Works Recovery is still a viable resource both men and women in early recovery.
