Get Real Recovery Review
Since 2010, Get Real Recovery (GRR) has offered individualized addiction treatment for adults, with dual diagnosis support, in San Juan Capistrano, California. Founders Larry Smith and Lori Cattern, both CADCs who have achieved long-term recovery, developed GRR after personal experiences with addiction. GRR offers short term detox, sober living and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).
Accommodations and Food
GRR clients stay in comfortable sober living homes they typically share a room with one other person. Singles are available for an additional cost. The houses come with all basic amenities such as Wi-Fi, cable television, laundry facilities and fully stocked kitchens. Each house has four to six bedrooms and each room either has its own corresponding bathroom or shares with one other bedroom. The cost of stay at GRR includes all food, which is prepared by the staff. A snack pantry is also on each site and always accessible to clients.
Treatment and Staff
Detox at GRR is medically-monitored and takes place in a clinical setting. Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is available if necessary, depending on the severity of the case. Detox usually lasts seven to 10 days after which clients may enter one of the sober living houses and IOP.
The individualized program may take up to three hours a day, up to five days a week and may last for up to 90 days. During the IOP clients are required to live in one of the sober living houses. Each day clients are transported to the GRR center, where they take part in CBT-based group and individual therapy, as well as educational classes. Each client has an assigned counselor for weekly individual sessions. Dual diagnosis support is available for those with co-occurring disorders.
Each evening, clients are taken back to their homes, where they are monitored 24/7. A psychiatrist, a clinical therapist a LCSW who serves as case manager and various CADCs are all part of the staff. At GRR there is zero-tolerance for substance use, which is monitored by regular random urinalysis, Breathalyzer and other drug testing.
Extras
GRR incorporates a family program into the programming to ensure that the entire support system is on the same page. Weekend sessions are dedicated to discussions of recovery and learning to set boundaries, adapt and reintegrate into a life of family recovery.

Get Real Recovery offers detox and therapy while also providing luxury sober living. For services that essentially are on par with a luxury residential treatment facility, the price is far more economical. For those seeking comprehensive substance abuse and dual diagnosis support for a great price, this is an excellent choice.
