Genesis House Florida Review
Genesis House was founded in 1992 as a private substance abuse treatment facility, and has been providing premier programming in a luxurious setting ever since. Located in the county of Palm Beach, Florida, Genesis House offers both detox and a Christian faith-based residential treatment program for substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. With a range of recreational activities and a flexible daily schedule, clients experience a holistic approach to recovery.
Accommodations and Food
The accommodations for the residential program are situated on a lush and expansive campus with eight buildings, a pool, volleyball and basketball courts, outdoor patio and tropical landscaping.
Clients sleep in sunny apartment-style complexes with separate, gender-specific buildings for men and women. There are some private units, but most are double-occupancy. Each unit has a spacious living room with comfortable contemporary furnishings and cable TV, a laundry room, shared bathrooms, a dining room and a fully equipped kitchen. Meals are prepared by a gourmet chef and are served three times a day.
Treatment and Staff
Clients requiring detox services are medically monitored. This phase of treatment lasts as long as is necessary, depending on the acuity of each client. Upon enrollment in the residential track, clients may opt for Christian-faith based treatment that incorporates spirituality and the Christian religion into treatment via prayer, Bible study, church attendance, pastoral counseling, a Christian-focused group and individual Christian counseling.
The standard residential program at Genesis House has a relaxed structure that is highly individualized. Each client is assigned a primary therapist who manages his or her case throughout treatment and who conducts individual therapy.
A normal day consists of group therapy, process group, lectures, trauma groups, educational groups and creative groups. Personalized aspects of treatment—such as individual therapy and treatment for co-occurring disorders—are developed and scheduled between clients and their primary therapist. The 12-step framework is also integral to treatment, and clients begin attending nightly AA/NA groups upon admission. On weekends, clients go on approved outings and participate in recreational activities.
The staff at Genesis House consists of MSWs, LCSWs, Certified Addiction Professionals (CAPs), Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs) and a psychiatrist.

In addition to the comprehensive substance abuse treatment program, Genesis House also offers a variety of recreational activities and programs. Exercise classes on weekday mornings, yoga, tennis, basketball, beach-related recreational activities, volleyball, massage and outdoor barbeques are all available to support a holistic recovery experience.
