Garfield County Human Services is a private substance abuse treatment program that offers a variety of different treatment options in the Pacific Northwest. Located in Pomeroy, Washington—about four hours east of Seattle—GCHS offers a basic outpatient track, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and a co-occurring disorders program.
Treatment and Staff
GCHS prides itself on offering a substance abuse treatment program that caters to the unique needs in an environment of education and healing. There is no pre-set duration for treatment, as all plans are individualized.
After an initial evaluation and assessment, the client’s counselor recommends the general outpatient, IOP or co-occurring disorders track. The IOP requires at least 15 hours of treatment per week while the regular outpatient program only requires 10.
Treatment incorporates individual, family and group therapy, educational lectures and relapse prevention programming. All therapies are based in CBT methodology. Medication management for those with opiate-related dependencies and trauma-informed care for clients with mental health disorders related to trauma are also available.
The 12-steps are not integrated into treatment, however clients are strongly encouraged to attend meetings and are provided referrals upon request.
The staff at GCHS consists of psychologists, Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHCs) and LCDCs.
Extras
Specialized groups are available for clients with trauma-related issues, including sexual abuse, domestic violence, children of parents with mental illness, loss and sexual assault.

All treatment plans incorporate evidence-based methods and traditional therapy. Those suffering from trauma-related issues will find focused treatment that meets their unique recovery needs.
