Galt Ocean Rehab Review
Galt Ocean Rehab is a substance abuse treatment facility for men and women located in beautiful Lauderdale By The Sea, Florida. Galt offers a program specifically designed to treat addiction and co-occurring disorders, chronic pain and people who have suffered multiple relapses. The oceanfront facility offers several choices for care. These include a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) with a sober living option, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and basic outpatient treatment.
Treatment and Staff
Galt offers individualized programs for every client. An assessment determines where new clients fit on the continuum of care. PHP is the most intensive phase, which is six hours a day, five days a week, and consists of multiple group sessions a day, at least one individual session a week and AA/NA meetings. Peer support meetings are also offered on-site in the evenings for clients in the sober living. There are groups that are specifically dedicated to trauma-informed care, pain management and co-occurring disorders that can include medication management if needed.
After a period of about 30 days, clients can transition to the IOP, which meets three to five times a week for three hours of group therapy. The IOP usually lasts six weeks, though the total length in the program can vary. The outpatient program serves as a step-down from structured living and intensive treatment. Typically, outpatient clients attend group once a week and one individual session a month. Therapy methods in all programs include psychoeducation, CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and holistic approaches like meditation, nutritional counseling, massage therapy.
Galt Ocean Rehab was founded by Maggie Bickers, who has 15 years of extensive clinical behavioral health experience. The staff is made up an MD, a RN and Master’s-level therapists whose credentials include LPC, CADC and LCSW.

The sober living option provides PHP clients structured housing in a community of luxury condos in Fort Lauderdale. The waterfront facility is situated on 36 acres along the Florida Intracoastal Waterway. It has three pools, a fitness center, racquetball and basketball courts. In addition, there are lounge areas on the waterfront, an outdoor grill and picnic area, and the entrance to the facility is gated with an attendant.
All of the gender-specific, double-occupancy residential units include full kitchens, washers and dryers and attractive furnishings that are clean and comfortable. Clients are encouraged to build life skills by shopping for groceries and preparing their own breakfasts and dinners—catered lunches are served daily by the facility.
