Galino House Review
Galino House is the first private inpatient rehab in the South African Free State capital city of Bloemfontein. Bloemfontein is the sixth largest city in South Africa and one of the country’s three capitals. Galino House offers detox and intensive 12-step based substance abuse treatment in English, catering to nationals as well as clients from abroad. Due to the rising cost of addiction treatment, South Africa has become a well-known destination for international clientele looking for cost-effective, yet solid treatment.
Accommodations and Food
Galino House is set in the beautiful and upscale area of Heuwelsig, Bloemfontein. The apartment-style building has a total of 20 beds and houses residents in private rooms with en-suite bathrooms. The grounds also include a swimming pool, an outdoor area and comfortable patio. Clients are given three meals a day and with access to unlimited coffee, bottled water and soft drinks.
Detox is available in a separate six-bed unit unit where clients can be monitored until withdrawal symptoms have stabilized. Galino House is an abstinence-based program so it does not offer Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for long-term maintenance.
Treatment and Staff
Clients attend daily group therapy that employs CBT and elements of the Minnesota Model. They also attend two to three individual sessions a week, in addition to family sessions if applicable. Residents get the benefit of psychoeducational and 12-step approaches, as well as relapse prevention classes. Depending on the client, duration of treatment may vary from one to three months. AA/NA meetings are available both on and off site throughout the day.
For clients with co-occurring disorders, specialized talk therapy with a psychiatrist and medication management is provided.
Galino House employs accredited counselors, a doctor, a nurse, a consulting psychiatrist, psychologist, social workers and administrative staff members.
Extras
Galino House offers physical fitness as part of the program; which includes cycling, swimming at the pool, gym workouts and jogging. Therapeutic massages are also included. Transportation to and from the airport is provided to clients on a complimentary basis.
