Treatment and Staff
Before anyone can receive outpatient treatment at Fuller, he or she has to undergo a comprehensive neuropsychological assessment or a personality assessment. Depending on the results, some clients proceed with twice weekly testing that lasts several hours over a two-day span, with a lunch break included. This test can determine whether an individual is on the autism spectrum at all, or if they are dealing with any mental health disorders, like bipolar, depression or anxiety.
Treatment is individualized, so come clients may only participate in group or individual therapy, and some may have a combination of both. Group therapy is capped at 15 clients and is co-ed. During weekly group sessions, groups target topics like grief and loss, depression and self esteem. These sessions meet on Tuesday in the evening on an on-going schedule.
Adolescent and adult individual therapy also meets on a weekly basis for about an hour per session. Treatment is provided by with LMFT and clinical psychologists, or students who are working towards their doctorate degree. Treatment is both based on the 12 steps for those who are dealing with a chemical dependency, and CBT approaches. Adolescents may experience play therapy and other forms of expressive therapy. Adults in treatment may go through DBT, Narrative Therapy, Family Systems Therapy or trauma-informed care. Additionally, regardless of age, there may be a recommendation for medication management at an outside agency if the therapist recognizes that it may be helpful.
Couples and family therapy is offered on an individualized basis, and usually takes place once a week. Treatment focuses on improving communication skills and building trust.
Fuller provides clients with a full range of treatment options in a loving environment. Uniquely, the staff is able to provide these services in several different languages, and treats a variety of disorders.
