Full Circle Education and Counseling Center Review
Since 1986, Full Circle Education and Counseling Center has provided the community with quality substance abuse and mental heath services in the Kansas City suburb of Olathe, Kansas. This outpatient facility offers chemical dependency assessments as well as individual therapy. Through healthy coping skills and evidence-based therapies, clients learn how to embrace sobriety.
Treatment and Staff
FCECC offers individualized care to each client. Before beginning in the program, all participants must undergo an initial evaluation. Detox and residential treatment are not offered, but referrals can be provided if necessary.
Individual therapy is the main method of treatment at FCECC, with hour-long sessions dedicated to delving into the underlying issues of addiction. The frequency of individual therapy depends on the individual, though clients typically start with one session per week and gradually decrease over time. These sessions may discuss topics such as relapse prevention, life skills, coping mechanisms and emotional processing. Therapy relies primarily on the use of CBT and DBT.
The 12 steps are often brought into therapy sessions to further explore the concepts of recovery. While the Big Book is not used, clients are still highly encouraged to attend meetings during their free time; this is not required. Those who are strongly against the 12 steps can choose not to discuss these concepts throughout treatment. The staff at FCECC consists of two Master’s-level counselors with extensive experience dealing with substance abuse.
Extras
In addition to treating substance abuse, FCECC offers batterer prevention classes, parenting education, anger management classes, children in disaster situations education, trauma treatment, victim support and safety planning. In addition, the organization also offers professional development and consultation with tailored presentations that fit the specific needs of each client or participating group. Examples include early onset childhood bipolar disorder, anger management and relational bullying.
In Summary
Overall, Full Circle Education and Counseling Center offers substance abuse treatment rooted in evidence-based therapies. Therapy is offered through both individual and group counseling, though there’s little in the way of support for co-occurring disorders. Still, Full Circle Education and Counseling Center is worth considering for those in need of outpatient treatment.
