Located 25 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles in the heart of the San Fernando Valley, Friends of the Family (FOF) is a comprehensive family resource facility that works to champion child rights, improve family and community health and increase educational readiness. Founded in 1972 with an annual budget of less than ten thousand dollars, today FOF provides services for over five thousand parents and children every year. The facility offers various family-centered programs that address an array of family and community problems including child abuse, domestic violence and academic instability. While it offers a plethora of mental health services, medication management and 12-step recovery are not components of FOF programming.
