Fresno New Connections (FNC) is a private, non-profit organization located in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley in Fresno, California. Since its inception in 1975, Fresno New Connections has offered outpatient treatment for drug and alcohol problems, and helped thousands of individuals conquer addiction and regain their lives. The philosophy of Fresno New Connections is that chemical dependency affects the whole person “spiritually, emotionally and physically.” As such, it provides community based, culturally sensitive care with the goal of positively impacting not only the community but the entire society.
Treatment and Staff
The first step of beginning treatment at Fresno New Connections is an assessment of the client conducted by a staff member. Fresno New Connections does not offer detox, so if a client is in need of one, the staff makes the necessary referral. Once the client’s specific needs are evaluated, a treatment plan is created, consisting mostly of a combination of CBT in individual and group settings. The program at Fresno New Connections is 12-step oriented. Diagnosis and treatment of co-occurring disorders are also available. Personal responsibility and self-awareness are emphasized throughout the process.
The center is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, and most clients attend therapy three days a week for several hours. Of course, this schedule varies from client to client. The length of the program is 30 days, with aftercare that includes counseling sessions, vocational training, and activities and events for family and community.
The clinical staff is comprised of registered/certified Addiction Treatment Counselors as recognized by the State of California Department of Health Care Services.
In addition to outpatient treatment, Fresno New Connections also offers anger management services for adults and adolescents, and batterers intervention for those experiencing domestic violence. It also provides bus tokens free of charge for those who might otherwise be unable to continue treatment without transportation aid.
Fresno New Connections is a great resource for those in the San Joaquin Valley actively seeking treatment for addiction. By offering services Monday through Friday, clients are able to easily incorporate recovery into their daily lives. Fresno New Connections believes true recovery is learning to live comfortably without the use of “mood or mind-altering drugs,” and through its program, it has helped numerous people achieve this goal. By aiding with transportation when necessary, accepting most insurance and applying appropriate sliding scale fees for those who pay out of pocket, Fresno New Connections offers help that’s easily available to those who are truly in need.
