EzperanzaThe Basics

The Esperanza is a sober living facility in Dallas, Texas. Established in 2002, this facility provides a transitional living experience to those who are coming out of a structured treatment program. Rooted in the 12 steps, clients are held to a high standard of responsibility when it comes to sobriety.

Accommodations and Amenities

The Esperanza residences provide clients single occupancy, fully furnished apartments in a 40 unit building. Each apartment comes with a large screen HD TV, cable and high speed Internet, wall-to-wall hardwood flooring, granite countertops in the kitchen and brand new appliances. The bedrooms have queen size beds with a pillow top mattress, dressers, nightstands and desks, while the living rooms offer couches, coffee tables and love seats. Residents need to bring their own linens and towels as well as kitchen utensils and cooking aids, but everything else is provided. Most units have a patio included as well. There is a shared BBQ area on-site, as well as movie room, laundry facilities, courtyard and 24 hour security.

Rules and Regulations

The Esperanza is a 12-step facility that offers on-site meetings twice weekly. Clients are held to a fairly high standard of accountability and are expected to attend a minimum of five meetings per week. They must also obtain a sponsor within two weeks of moving into the residence, a home group AA or NA meeting and either be enrolled in school or working. Before moving into one of the units, clients must have at least 30 days of continued sobriety. There is a minimum 90-day commitment period to participate in the program.

In addition to the 12-Step meetings on site at the facility, there are also Big Book study sessions, relapse prevention and life skill workshops with guest speakers. A morning meditation is lead every day by a staff member. Random UA’s and breathalyzers are performed weekly as a measure of compliance.

There are residential and assistant managers living at the facility to offer guidance and resources such as meeting locations. Clients with children are permitted for overnight visits on the weekend with prior approval from the management.

Extras

The Esperanza is a pet friendly community and clients may bring their small animals to live with them at the facility with an additional deposit fee.

In Summary

The program at The Esperanza is designed to give residents a smooth transitional experience while acclimating themselves to every day life in recovery. With a strict five meeting per week policy and random drug testing, clients are held accountable. Through finding employment or going back to school, The Esperanza can also help them gain both confidence and build important sober life skills.
