Fred LeRoy Health and Wellness Center Review
Fred LeRoy Health and Wellness Center was founded by the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska in 1998 with the goal of providing medical, dental and behavioral health services to the surrounding Native American communities. Located in Omaha, Nebraska, FLHWC is a part of a broad network of facilities and services including an outpatient substance abuse treatment program with a co-occurring disorders program. Treatment combines evidence based therapy and a holistic approach to recovery.
Treatment and Staff
The outpatient programs at FLHWC are intended for individuals who have completed detox and demonstrate an ability to support themselves but still require a structured outpatient treatment program. Beginning with an initial assessment which determines each client’s needs, an individualized treatment plan is created.
In addition to CBT-based individual, group and family counseling, relapse prevention programs, treatment for co-occurring disorders and aftercare are also offered. The 12-steps are not integrated into the program, but attendance of outside meetings is strongly encouraged.
The focus of each session is to help the client to relearn how to lead a fulfilling and happy life without needing or using substances. An important end-goal of treatment is an ability to attend social events where alcohol or drugs are present and not feel tempted. FLHWC uses a holistic approach and promotes a nurturing environment to reach this recovery goal.
The staff at FLHWC consists of LCSWs, CADCs and LPCs.
Extras
In addition to the substance abuse treatment program, FLHWC also offers a variety of other health and wellness services to clients and the community. Services include adolescent care, diabetes education, elder care, family planning, physical therapy, a women with infants program, transportation, public nursing, mental health care, dental services and a pharmacy.
