Four Directions Counseling and Recovery Center was founded in 1989 in Lexington, North Carolina, a small town in the central area of the state. Four Directions operates three offices in Lexington, Winston-Salem and Mount Airy. The organization offers outpatient treatment to both voluntary and court-ordered adult clients.

Treatment and Staff

Clients who are voluntarily entering Four Directions begin their intake process with an initial phone call with a case manager. This is followed by a meeting with a counselor to help determine the client’s potential level of care. If the someone is in need of more extensive rehabilitation, he or she is referred to an outside residential treatment or detox program.

Four Directions offers both group and individual counseling for court-ordered clients and just individual counseling for self-admitted clients. The length and intensity of the treatment is based on each client’s individual needs. Group meeting are offered Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays in the Lexington office, Thursdays and Saturdays in Winston-Salem and Mondays and Wednesdays at the Mt. Airy location. Group meetings are usually available in both the morning and evenings.

Counselors at Four Directions use a variety of treatment techniques in both group and individual sessions including CBT, EMDR, grief and trauma counseling, emotionally focused therapy and holistic counseling. Counselors also focus on teaching clients life skills and nutritional education.

Four Directions promotes the 12 steps and requires clients to attend outside AA and NA groups while in treatment. Four Directions is not a dual diagnosis facility.

The staff at Four Directions consists of both a LPC and a CSAC, and the latter is bilingual in both English and Spanish.

Extras

Although Four Directions does not have an official aftercare program, counselors strongly encourage clients to continue attending AA and NA groups and utilize these communities as outside support systems.

Four Directions also offers DWI outpatient programs.
