Foundry Clinical Group Review
Based in Beverly Hills, California, Foundry Clinical Group is a treatment organization providing a range of services for clients struggling with addictive behaviors relating to eating disorders and sex and love addiction. Foundry operates a total of three facilities in California—in LA, Oakland and the San Diego suburb of Del Mar. The facilities provide both stand-alone services, like individual, couples and group therapy, as well as structured programs. These include an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for sexually dysfunctional men and couples’ programs designed to facilitate healing for relationships that have been devastated by compulsive sexual behavior.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning a program, all individuals go through an initial intake and assessment process to help staff members develop their individualized treatment plans. The IOP is a five-day intensive designed for men who need help with sexual issues, but can’t take an extended amount of time away from work and family. IOP runs Wednesdays to Sundays from 9 am to 5 pm and is offered every other month in LA, with the off months in Oakland. This program addresses things like compulsive masturbation, chronic affairs and infidelity, anonymous sex, porn and strip club addiction. The program is limited to just four men at a time.
IOP encourages the men to look at how their behavior, risk-taking and secret-keeping has become a habit and helps them break the cycle. With the help of their peers and therapists, they explore strategies for recovery and ways to avoid minimizing, justifying or rationalizing the problematic sexual behavior. Every client gets help developing a personalized relapse prevention plan. The intention is to provide them with referrals for ongoing care to address their specific triggers and problematic behaviors.
Individualized programs for problematic sexual behavior and eating disorders can include customized schedules of individual, group and couples therapy. These programs can work around availability and include a variety of approaches.
Therapy is based around evidence-based practices including CBT, DBT and EMDR. While 12-step participation is not required, clients are encouraged to attend off-site peer meetings such as SLA. The staff at Foundry Clinical Group consists of LMFTs, LPCs, psychologists and additional Master’s-level counselors.
Extras
The other structured programs that are coming soon at Foundry are designed for couples. They are weekend intensives that last from 10 am to 5 pm Saturdays and Sundays. These workshops are called Through the Fire, developed for couples in recovery that are finding it challenging to rebuild trust and intimacy after the discovery of infidelity or sex addiction. The other program has the same schedule and is called Forging Ahead. It’s a next step after Forging Ahead and focuses on identifying dysfunctional relationship patterns, fostering empathy and building healthy communication.
