Foundations San Francisco Review
Located just a few blocks from the famous Fisherman’s Wharf in Foundations San Francisco is an outpatient drug and alcohol treatment program. The facility offers culturally sensitive and individualized care with additional support for those suffering from co-occurring disorders. The facility is owned and operated by Foundations Recovery Network, a national behavioral health conglomerate that has a number of residential and outpatient locations.
Treatment and Staff
After an initial psychiatric assessment, clients work with staff members to develop a treatment plan that best suits their needs. Though programs are flexible and subject to change, each generally includes individual and group therapy as well as process groups. Sessions are available in the morning and evening. The day program runs from noon to 3:15 pm, Mondays through Fridays and the evening program runs from 5:45 to 9 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Treatment is based on the Stages of Change model and rooted in evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and somatic experiencing. Programs generally include a spiritual component, which can mean 12-step integration, depending on clients’ preferences. Group sessions cover relapse prevention, life skills, stress management and other related topics. Additional support for co-occurring disorders, including medication management, is also available.
Staff consists of LMFTs, psychiatrists, physicians and Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
Holistic therapy options are also available and include acupuncture, meditation, yoga and massage. All programs are LGBT friendly. Clients in need of more intensive treatement will be referred to Michael’s House in Palm Springs, Foundations Recovery Network’s residential program. Aftercare is available in the form of treatment at a stepped down frequency.
Heroes in Recovery is a grassroots alumni organization that aims to remove the stigma from addiction recovery and raises awareness via yearly 6K races in major cities across the country.
