Foundations San Diego Review
Based in San Diego, California, Foundations San Diego is an outpatient treatment facility operated by Foundations Recovery Network, a behavioral health conglomerate with a nationwide network of programs. The San Diego location provides addiction treatment as well as support for co-occurring disorders via Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP). Treatment and Staff
After an initial intake and psychiatric assessment, clients work with staff to develop individualized treatment plans. Although the approach to treatment in PHP and IOP are the same, clients in PHP generally live in a sober living facility and attend treatment for several hours a day, while IOP clients attend a few times a week, three hours at a time.
Treatment works within the structure of individual and group therapy using evidence-based practices like DBT, CBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). As with most of Foundations facilities, the curriculum is based on the Stages of Change model, meeting clients wherever they are in the recovery process. Group topics include education about addiction, relapse prevention, anger management and other related issues. Medication management is offered by on-staff physicians. While 12-step participation is not required, clients are encouraged to attend off-site meetings if they wish.
Staff includes LMFTs, CADCs, LAADCs, physicians, psychiatrists and Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
Other services include community-based yoga, acupuncture, meditation, Tai Chi, Qi Gong and massage therapy. Special groups are available for LGBT clients as well, though all treatment is designed to be culturally sensitive and open to a number of different backgrounds. Intervention help is also available, as are evening aftercare groups for alums.
